Our Elders

It’s 6:30 a.m. on a Tuesday morning. The doors to the library at MPPC’s 950 Santa Cruz campus open and the room quickly fills with church members who make up the MPPC Session. Looking around the room you’ll see a group of men and women who bring different gifts and experiences to the table, but all are here because of a single shared goal: to make MPPC a thriving Jesus church where people are encouraged to love God, love people and serve the world.

Contributions from elders are crucial to MPPC’s health and governance. Elders see the life of MPPC each week from a churchwide perspective, providing guidance, support, prayer and governance. They give hours each month in service to the Lord by covering ministries in prayer, joining ministry meetings, discussing and voting on key churchwide initiatives , and encouraging staff and congregants at all of our campuses. Elders actively serve for three years and remain ordained for life. Each year, eight new elders begin their three-year term as another eight elders complete theirs and leave Session.
