Women's Writing Workshops

Saturday mornings, January 21 - March 31 and May 5 - July 14, 10:00 a.m - noon
Menlo Park Campus, Community Corner

We invite you to join a friendly, safe and confidential place with a small group of women who write from prompts given by the leader.  We meet for eight week sessions in the spring and summer.  All you need is a pen, a notebook and a desire for honest writing.  No time?  Writer's block?  Come and join in - you'll have fun and increase your skills as you write with others.

A poem from one of our writers:

Our Rejoice
by Sandra Heuckroth

I am Martha. And I have no time.
No time for a church so large to find an identity for me.
Yet after searching, I found a group of women with whom to write.
Then they asked me - uncensored - to write about me.

Come on, how uncomfortable could that be?
Oh, I can mask it with feelings, with humor, details and tears.
Throw in words of sympathy or from yesteryear -
An easy recipe for immediate success; but, but.

But, these women, they are real, their stories are from their hearts.
And as a result our collaborative collections are progressively titled
"In Progress," "Blessings," "Treasures," "Thanksgivings;"
and "Souls on Paper."

We, us women of the Bible, have "become" together.
We have melded and grown, strengthened as a group,
Encouraged as individuals and treasured by all.
We have found each other, our voice, our rejoice.
